Orders of Mother conferred on 58 Belarusian women with many children

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) The Orders of Mother have been conferred on 58 women from Vitebsk Oblast, Gomel Oblast, Grodno Oblast, and Mogilev Oblast for giving birth to and bringing up five and more children. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed corresponding Decree No. 57 on 6 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

Among the awardees are gardener of Tolochin Canning Factory Anna Gerasimova, worker of the center of creativity for children and youth in Novobelitsky District Valentina Berezina, stock breeder of the Ozery agricultural company in Grodno District Tatyana Vardoni, cook of the Solnyshko kindergarten in the village of Lapichi Irina Stelmakh.

Ticket sales for 2018 Slavianski Bazaar to start on 23 February

VITEBSK, 1 February (BelTA) The ticket sales for the festival of arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will start on 23 February, Director General of the Vitebsk cultural center, the festival director Alexander Sidorenko told the first press conference dedicated to the 27th edition of the festival, BelTA has learned.
The tickets will go on sale in three phases. The first one will begin on 23 February.

Novopolotsk takes over as Belarus' Capital of Culture

NOVOPOLOTSK, 24 January (BelTA) - Novopolotsk took over as Belarus Capital of Culture from Bobruisk, BelTA has learned.

The official launch of the nationwide campaign The Capital of Culture of Belarus took place in Novopolotsk on 23 January. The festive event was attended by Belarus Culture Minister Yuri Bondar who gave Novopolotsk Mayor Dmitry Demidov a special certificate. The year 2018 is unusual and special for Novopolotsk.

Belarus' agricultural output up 4.1% in 2017

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) Belarusian agricultural enterprises of all types (state-run agricultural enterprises, private farming enterprises, and personal subsidiary economies) turned out Br18.2 billion worth of agricultural products in 2017, up 4.1% from 2016 in comparable prices, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.

The top contributor is Minsk Oblast (23.8% of the country's agricultural output).

Over 5,800 polling stations set up for 2018 local elections in Belarus

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) A total of 5,869 polling stations have been set up for the elections to the local councils of deputies in Belarus in 2018. Such information has been posted on the website of the Belarusian Central Election Commission, BelTA has learned.

In particular, 1,022 polling stations have been set up in Gomel Oblast, 991 in Minsk Oblast, 923 in Brest Oblast, 798 in Vitebsk Oblast, 749 in Mogilev Oblast, 711 in the city of Minsk and 675 in Grodno Oblast.

UNHCR Representative praises level of cooperation with Belarus authorities, organizations

VITEBSK, 13 December (BelTA) I am satisfied with the level of cooperation with the authorities and public organizations of Belarus, Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Belarus Jean Yves Bouchardy told the media following the meeting with refugees in Vitebsk on 12 December, BelTA has learned.

I am happy with the level of cooperation with the Belarusians authorities and public organizations that work with refugees.

IFMC in Vitebsk turns into Belarus trademark

VITEBSK, 21 November (BelTA) Over 30 years the International Festival of Modern Choreography (IFMC) in Vitebsk has become Belarus cultural trademark, Belarus Culture Minister Yuri Bondar said at the closing ceremony of the festival, BelTA has learned.

Over its 30 years of existence the festival has turned into a cultural trademark of not only Vitebsk but also the whole country. Today, the festival is well-known outside Belarus, is recognized by the worlds choreography community, sets trends in modern choreography, Yuri Bondar stressed.

Main work to upgrade Orsha District enterprises to begin in 2018

ORSHA, 9 November (BelTA) The main work to upgrade Orsha District enterprises will begin in 2018, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov, who was in Vitebsk Oblast on 9 November on a working trip.

Andrei Kobyakov visited key industrial enterprises in Orsha District to see how the head of states instructions to develop them were being fulfilled. I cannot say the enterprises are making huge steps forward.

Ballet National de Marseille to wrap up IFMC 2017 in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 31 October (BelTA) - The International Festival of Modern Choreography (IFMC) in Vitebsk will wrap up with a performance by the Ballet National de Marseille, BelTA learned from the Vitebsk cultural center.

The 2017 IFMC will take place from 15 to 19 November. Some amendments have been made to the forums announced program for technical reasons. For instance, Sergei Smirnovs Eccentric Ballet, a four-time winner of Russias national theater award The Golden Mask, is to replace the Czech dance company VerTeDance with a dance show Songs of the Last Grass.

Ilya Lukovets of Novopolotsk wins bodybuilding championships in Russia

VITEBSK, 24 October (BelTA) A rescuer from Novopolotsk won the bodybuilding championship in Russia, BelTA learned the website of the Belarus Emergencies Ministry.

Warrant officer Ilya Lukovets, a worker of the firefighting rescue team of the Vitebsk Oblast Department of the Emergencies Ministry, won the bodybuilding and fitness championships in Russia. The competitions were held in Astrakhan.
