Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk to host Vologda lace expo

TVER OBLAST, 19 April (BelTA) The world famous Vologda lace may go on display during the Day of the Belarus-Russia Union State during the Slavianski Bazaar festival in Vitebsk, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota told the media, BelTA has learned.

Plans are in place to organize a workshop in lace making by Vologda lace masters and to arrange a catwalk show of the apparel made from Vologda lace and Orsha linen fabrics.

Minister: Belarusian society demands amendments to Law on Mass Media

MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) Amendments to the Law on Mass Media are required by the Belarusian society, Belarus Information Minister Alexander Karlyukevich said in an interview to the STV TV channel on 8 April, BelTA has learned.

The minister drew attention to the fact that the public had repeatedly spoken out about the unlawful nature of numerous information messages posted on the internet.


Belarus, St Petersburg secure food export deal for 2018

An agreement on the volume of Belarusian food exports St Petersburg in 2018 was signed at the 10th session of the Belarus-St Petersburg Business Cooperation Council attended by Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov on 28 March, BelTA informs.

The sides signed a roadmap of cooperation in science and technology between the educational and scientific institutions of Belarus and St Petersburg for 2018-201, a memorandum of cooperation between the healthcare committees of Minsk and St Petersburg, and an agreement on cooperation between the Ushachi District Executive Committee (Vitebsk Oblast) and the town of Sestroretsk.


Tentative plans to open two Belarusian-Indian joint ventures by year end to make medications

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) Two Belarusian-Indian joint ventures to make medications may be opened by the end of the year, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Pankaj Saxena.

According to the diplomat, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry of Belarus and India have been able to set up joint ventures to make medications that will sell well in Belarus and other Eurasian Economic Union member states.


Voting at Russian presidential elections in 13 cities of Belarus

MOSCOW, 16 March (BelTA) Voting at the presidential elections in Russia will be available in 13 cities of Belarus, BelTA learned from the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.

Polling stations have been set up in Minsk and all the Belarusian oblast centers: Brest, Grodno, Vitebsk, Gomel, and Mogilev.

There will be also possible to cast votes in Bobruisk, Borisov, Baranovichi, Polotsk, Orsha, Ostrovets and Kletsk.


Chinese billionaire plans to set up car rental system for public use in Belarus

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) Director General of Guangzhou Xinjinlai Import and Export Trade, billionaire Wang Enpei plans to launch a project Cars for Public Use in Belarus. A Chinese delegation led by Wang Enpei is in Belarus on a visit from 11 to 16 March, BelTA learned from the website of Belarus National Agency of Investment and Privatization.

The project is meant to form a car rental system for public use.

UPDATE 1-Lukashenko concerned about uneven regional development in Belarus

MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) Interregional inequality inside the country is a process that is becoming persistent, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting held on 2 March to hear out the reports of the government, the National Bank, the oblast executive committees and Minsk City Hall on the economic performance in 2017 and goals to secure the countrys sustainable economic growth, BelTA informs.


Union State MPs to consider Belarusian-Russian manufacturing projects

MOSCOW, 22 February (BelTA) Setting up joint Belarusian-Russian manufacturing facilities will be high on the agenda of a session of the commission on budget and finance of the Belarus-Russia Union State Parliamentary Assembly due in Vitebsk on 28 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly.

The participants in the meeting will discuss the problems and prospects for setting up Belarusian-Russian enterprises and their support within the framework of the Union State.


Orders of Mother conferred on 58 Belarusian women with many children

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) The Orders of Mother have been conferred on 58 women from Vitebsk Oblast, Gomel Oblast, Grodno Oblast, and Mogilev Oblast for giving birth to and bringing up five and more children. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed corresponding Decree No. 57 on 6 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

Among the awardees are gardener of Tolochin Canning Factory Anna Gerasimova, worker of the center of creativity for children and youth in Novobelitsky District Valentina Berezina, stock breeder of the Ozery agricultural company in Grodno District Tatyana Vardoni, cook of the Solnyshko kindergarten in the village of Lapichi Irina Stelmakh.


Ticket sales for 2018 Slavianski Bazaar to start on 23 February

VITEBSK, 1 February (BelTA) The ticket sales for the festival of arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will start on 23 February, Director General of the Vitebsk cultural center, the festival director Alexander Sidorenko told the first press conference dedicated to the 27th edition of the festival, BelTA has learned.
The tickets will go on sale in three phases. The first one will begin on 23 February.
