Belarusian MPs eager to work hard with Georgian parliament

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) Members of the Belarusian parliament are intent on tight cooperation with the Georgian parliament. Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko made the statement as he met with Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze on 20 November, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Andreichenko noted the visit of the Georgian delegation was important because it was the first parliamentary visit of such a magnitude in the history of the bilateral relations.

Belarus, Romania strengthen cooperation in education

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) Belarus and Romania have been actively strengthening cooperation in education, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Romania Andrei Grinkevich told BelTA.

The relations with Romania are productive in general. Cooperation in culture and education plays a big role. Over the past year contacts have been establishing between nearly 20 Romanian and over 30 Belarusian universities, said Andrei Grinkevich.


Belarus sports facilities almost ready for 2019 European Games

MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) The sports facilities of Minsk are almost ready for the Second European Games, head of the sports and tourism department of the Minsk City Hall Sergei Furmanov told the media on 24 October, BelTA has learned.

All the sports facilities, which are under construction, will be commissioned in time. In 2018 they will host test competitions, noted Sergei Furmanov.

The Second European Games will take place at 11 sports facilities of the Belarusian capital, and also the rowing channel near Zaslavl.


Belarus, Indonesia to boost cooperation in trade, investment

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) Belarus and Indonesia will intensify trade, economic, and investment cooperation. The relevant agreement was signed during the working visit of a Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas to Indonesia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The sixth session of the Belarusian-Indonesian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, and technical cooperation was held in Jakarta.

Belarus, EU diplomats discuss cooperation in Eastern Partnership

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Valery Voronetsky held a meeting with the EU Ambassadors-at-Large for the Eastern Partnership on 10 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The meeting took place on the initiative of the ambassadors-at-large during their visit to Belarus to hold consultations on the preparations for the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels, Belgium on 24 November 2017 and the elaboration of its final documents.


Package of documents to promote entrepreneurship in Belarus to be signed soon

A package of documents on the promotion of entrepreneurship in Belarus will be signed in the near future, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Nikolai Snopkov told BelTA as he met with citizens at the Lyakhovichi District Executive Committee (Brest Oblast).

"The decree to develop information and communications technologies (the so-called 'IT decree') will be submitted for signature to the Belarus president in the near future.


CSTO foreign ministers adopt three joint statements

MOSCOW, 21 September (BelTA) The foreign ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) have adopted three joint statements at a meeting in New York. These are the documents On Counteracting International Terrorism, On Securing Universal World Stability, and On the Situation in Afghanistan and the Threat of the Strengthening Positions of International Terrorist and Extremist Organizations in the Northern Provinces of the Country, BelTA learned from the CSTO website.

Belarus to host Days of Kazakhstan Culture in 2018

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) Days of Kazakhstan Culture in Belarus will be held in 2018, head of the main culture and analytics department at the Culture Ministry of Belarus Vasily Chernik said at the international conference Kazakhstan-Belarus: 25 years of the diplomatic relations. Demand for genetic testing growing in Belarus

MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) The demand for genetic testing has been steadily increasing in Belarus, Director of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Valentina Lemesh told a press conference hosted by BelTA on 30 August.

The National Center of Genome Biotechnology runs an advanced medical genetics program. This is a very popular area. We have already done more than 100,000 genetic tests and the demand for them has been constantly growing, said Valentina Lemesh.

Astana hosting Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting

ASTANA, 14 August (BelTA) Astana, Kazakhstan is playing host to a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian delegation is led by Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov. Attending the session is also Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev, and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan.
