Belarus freight traffic up 2.3% H1 2017

MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) The Belarusian organizations and self-employed businessmen shipped 209.4 million tonnes of cargo in H1 2017, up 2.3% from the same period of last year, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.

Freight turnover climbed by 4.9% from H1 2016 to total 64.8 billion tonne-kilometers.

The Belarusian carriers transported 984 million passengers, 94.


Number of online stores in Belarus up 3.5 times in 2010-2016

MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) The number of online stores in Belarus has surged 3.5 times over the last five years, Violetta Brezovskaya, Head of the Department for the Organization of Trade and Services at the Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry, told a press conference on 10 July, BelTA has learned.

As of 1 July 2017, there were over 15,000 online stores in Belarus, 51% of them owned by private entrepreneurs and 48% by legal entities.

Belarus views Vietnam as reliable partner of strategic importance

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) Belarus views Vietnam as a reliable partner of strategic importance. Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko made the statement as he met with Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang on 27 June, BelTA has learned.

The MP said: We consider the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to be a reliable and strategically important partner.


Belarusian automaker BelAZ reports soaring export figures in January-May

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) In January-May 2017 the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ exported 120% more merchandise in comparison with the same period of last year, BelAZ representatives told BelTA.

This year BelAZ products have been exported to 22 countries. In January-May export to Russia rose by 2.2 times in comparison with the same period of last year. Export to non-CIS states went up by 130%, with export to CIS states up by nearly 100%.

PM: Days of Moldovan Culture in Belarus prove the countries mutual interest

The Days of Moldovan Culture in Belarus testifies to a sincere mutual interest between the two countries, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said at the opening of the Days of Culture at the Belarusian State Philharmonics on 6 June, BelTA has learned.

It is a milestone in the bilateral relations between Belarus and Moldova which attests to a sincere mutual interest, cultural achievements of our nations, and an intention to develop and strengthen cooperation between the two countries, said the prime minister.

Belarus eager to develop cooperation in global energy security

Belarus is interested in strengthening the international cooperation in ensuring global energy security, Belarus Deputy Energy Minister Vadim Zakrevsky said as he spoke at the Ashgabat International Energy Charter Forum Towards a Multilateral Framework Agreement on Transit of Energy Resources on 30 May, BelTA has learned.

Belarus signed the International Energy Charter in the Hague in 2015.


Belarus, Ecuador seek closer inter-parliamentary ties

MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) Belarus and Ecuador have reaffirmed mutual interest in building up inter-parliamentary relations. The matter was discussed at a meeting between Speaker of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko and Vice President of the National Assembly of Ecuador Carlos Bergmann, BelTA learned from the press service of the parliament.

Vladimir Andreichenko has arrived in Ecuador to attend the inauguration ceremony for Ecuador President-elect Lenin Moreno.


Belarus-China cooperation in notarial activities seen as promising

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) - Belarus-China cooperation in notarial activities is promising, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Valery Mitskevich said as he met with a delegation of the China Notary Association, BelTA learned from the Belarus National Center of Legal Information.

Valery Mitskevich told the Chinese guests about Belarus recent notarial reform, which resulted in the development of an independent notarial system.


Mass Media in Belarus expo opens in Minsk

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) The 21st edition of the international exhibition Mass Media in Belarus has opened in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

Nearly 100 participants have confirmed their readiness to take part in the expo. The forum will feature Belarusian news agencies, editors' offices, and media publishing houses. Among the invitees are Chinese and Russian mass media. The forum will showcase the Union State publications and also materials circulated among the Belarusian diaspora in Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, and Russia

The conference Mass Media in the Changing World: Professionalism and Responsibility will be one of the central events to highlight information security.


Ambrazevich: Integration processes should steer clear of unnecessary, dangerous confrontation

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) Belarus is interested in successful cooperation with its eastern and western neighbors both in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the European Union (EU), Belarus Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva Yuri Ambrazevich said during the 67th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
