The region’s education system consists of nine secondary, one elementary and three basic schools, four secondary kindergarten-schools, two basic kindergarten-schools, three elementary kindergarten-schools, Shumilino regional gymnasium with 2.733 schoolchildren.
Some 14 pre-school establishments cater for 800 children. The region has a center of out-of-class activities and a center of correctional education and rehabilitation. Eight gymnasium and three lyceum forms have been opened in Obol and Shumilino schools.
