What will be the structure of acreage, the fate of agro-industrial associations and what will be the focus in the agro-industrial complex of the Vitebsk region in the future, Minister of Agriculture and Food Anatoly Linevich told reporters at a joint meeting in Vitebsk of the Ministry and the State Control Committee, BelTA correspondent reports.
"On behalf of the head of state, it is necessary to consider the issues of the agro-industrial complex of the region. This takes place at the level of the boards of the State Control and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Today we are considering the issues of production, the results of the year. We see that in the last year we have harvested a good harvest in the region," Anatoly Linevich said.
Speaking about the grain harvest in the Vitebsk region, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food noted that there is a small shortage in this year's harvest. "A certain amount of grain was not harvested, but the conditions of the year did not allow it to be done. Next year, I hope, we will fulfill the instruction of the head of state, " he stressed.
As for the further development of the agro-industrial complex of the northern region, here, as the President announced during the regional holiday of village workers in Polotsk, emphasis should be placed on processing and production of meat and dairy products. "The most important direction is animal husbandry. Creating a feed field, providing cultivation products, milk production is such a basic task," the minister said.
Despite the fact that the Vitebsk region is a zone of risky farming, mainly due to weather factors, there are no plans to radically change the structure of acreage in the region. "With the help of scientists, new varieties of crops have been developed, we will try them in the conditions of Vitebsk region, the same soybeans. Otherwise, the structure of the acreage has already been determined. We need to add alfalfa crops, have it 10% of the arable land. In other cultures, everything will remain almost at the level of last year. The most important thing is to harvest food every year. If it works, then there will be milk production," Anatoly Linevich shared.
At a joint meeting, the heads of key sectors of the economy discussed how the implementation of Presidential Decree No. 70 "On the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Vitebsk region" is going. Regarding the effectiveness of the agro-industrial associations created in the region, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food noted that their structure is built, it is necessary to wait for the results. "They will still show their effectiveness, and it will be. The situation is now stabilizing. The turning point has occurred, we have started from zero, and agro-industrial associations will add. The management structure has been worked out, all issues have been considered," Anatoly Linevich said.
The meeting analyzed the results of the agricultural season in crop production, the pace of land reclamation, the work of processing organizations in the region, the production of mixed feeds and flour products. Financial results and exports of products, technical equipment of agricultural enterprises were not ignored. Thus, the revenue of agricultural organizations in Vitebsk region increased by 13.5% in nine months compared to January - September 2023. There is also a positive trend in the export of food products and agricultural raw materials from organizations in the Vitebsk region - an increase of 28.9% compared to the level of January - September last year. The geography of supplies includes 57 countries. Beef, poultry meat, butter, cheeses and cottage cheese, sausages are also supplied from the northern region to the countries of the far arc.
However, there are also issues that require immediate resolution and control. The participants of the meeting gave an appropriate assessment of the work done at all management levels. In acute situations, collegial decisions have been developed with specific response measures and policy decisions. This applies, for example, to strict technological discipline in the production of agricultural products, the efficiency of processing enterprises, increasing the sale of meat and dairy products, and working with personnel for the agro-industrial complex. Also, effective measures are necessary for the timely commissioning of dairy complexes under construction and under reconstruction, technical equipment and equipping them with highly productive cattle to obtain high milk yields.
