Belarusian-Chinese education program described as dialogue of cultures

The Belarusian–Chinese educational program represents a unique case where two different traditions and educational systems have been successfully reconciled, BelTA learned from Rector of Belarusian State University (BSU) Andrei Korol.

The BSU rector noted that the joint Belarusian–Chinese program is a unique case where two different traditions and educational systems have been reconciled. “To sum it up, it was a dialogue of cultures in the full sense of the word,” he stressed.

Andrei Korol described the first graduation of specialists who studied within the framework of the joint program as an exam not only for Belarusian State University but also for Peking University. “We were very worried. I would say that the exam was successful because it is [aimed] at creation. This is the first step toward achieving the goals set by the head of state. We need to expand and deepen cooperation, and look for the best of the best,” the BSU rector stated.

“Peking University is a leader not only in China, it ranks among the top three on the global stage. Creating a joint educational program primarily required excellent communication because no such practice had existed before. Both their educational programs and ours were tailored to their own templates,” Andrei Korol explained.

In 2022 Belarusian State University and Peking University signed an agreement to offer a joint bachelor’s degree program in biotechnology, and in July 2025 they signed an agreement for a master’s degree program in the same specialty.

The first graduation of specialists who studied within the framework of the program took place on 30 June this year. It was attended by Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, who visited Peking University as part of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China.
