In honor of the 100th anniversary of the district, a square was opened in Shumilino
The 100th anniversary of its formation is celebrated by the Shumilino district - a region with a rich history, which gave many famous people throughout the country.
Among them are Mikhail Zimyanin (diplomat and secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union), Alexander Dubko (Hero of Belarus, former chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee), representatives of the famous Obol underground Efrosinya Zenkova and Zinaida Portnova, awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, the famous biathlete Anna Sola.
- Shumilino has always been a fertile land. Recently, the region has been developing, new facilities are emerging. This region is becoming more beautiful and cozy, - said the chairman of the regional executive committee Alexander Subbotin.
Congratulating his fellow countrymen on the anniversary, the chairman of the Shumilinsky District Executive Committee Sergei Galynchik noted that in the chronicle of the history of the region there are such significant events as the granting of the town of Sirotino with the Magdeburg Law in the XVIII century, the official approval of the coat of arms of the Grebnitsky family (now it is the coat of arms of the Shumilinsky district), the construction of a section of the Riga-Oryol railway and the construction of one of the oldest railway stations in Belarus. However, in the last 100 years, the foundation of the Belarusian statehood has been laid, of which the current generations are also a part. Many wonderful people inscribed their names in the chronicle of the Shumilinsky district, glorified the region with their exploits on the battlefields and their work. Serhiy Galynchyk stressed that life is moving forward and the best years are undoubtedly ahead.
"Protecting our historical heritage, preserving the best traditions, cultural and spiritual values, all together, by joining forces, we will solve many important problems, and also will definitely achieve our goals," the head of the region expressed confidence.
In a solemn atmosphere, a square was opened in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Shumilinsky district. The Museum of History and Local Lore presents the exposition "Through the Years of Memory and Fate". There were thematic sites organized by the district center of culture, the House of Crafts, the library, the newspaper "Hero of Pratsy", the district committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, the education department of the district executive committee.
By the way, a capsule with a message to descendants is laid in the new square. It will be opened in half a century on the 150th anniversary of the Shumilinsky district.
In the evening, a festive relay race of organizations and enterprises "Congratulations on the 100th anniversary" will be held, a cover band will perform, a dance program and an action "Let's sing together Shumilino, dear, prosper!" will take place.
The celebrations will end with festive fireworks.
Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow there will be motor rallies "100 years of creation - Shumilin Jubilee District".
