In Polotsk, work is underway to repair the monument to Francysk Skaryna

Many Polotsk residents paid attention to the work that is being carried out to repair the monument to Francysk Skaryna.

The state of affairs was commented on by the head of the housing and communal services department of the district executive committee Irina Zenchenkova:

"Currently, the monument is being repaired. The damaged granite cladding of its base will be replaced. The slabs have already been dismantled, later they will be replaced with new ones. In addition, restoration work will be carried out on the monument to Francysk Skaryna. Its restoration is carried out with scientific and technical support, in compliance with the recommendations given by specialists. It should be noted that as a result of the work carried out in order to maintain the monument in operational condition, its original appearance will not change.

This year, current repairs have already been carried out on the monuments to Simeon of Polotsk, located on Francysk Skaryna Avenue, and to the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812 on Freedom Square. There was no need for restoration at these sites.
