In Vitebsk, emergency workers rescued two people in a fire

A message about the smell of smoke in the entrance of one of the high-rise buildings on Smolenskaya Street in the regional center was received by rescuers yesterday at 17-31, the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.

Emergency departments arrived at the scene and found dense smoke in a four-room apartment on the second floor.

The living space belongs to a pensioner born in 1958. The man and his guest, born in 1962, were found by rescuers in smoke-filled rooms, taken out into the fresh air and handed over to an ambulance team. After the examination, the man and the woman refused to be hospitalized.

A source of smoke was also found in one of the rooms – a smoldering sofa and bedding. Emergency workers promptly eliminated the fire.

The cause of the fire is being established, the version under consideration is careless handling of fire when smoking by the landlord of the apartment.
