In Vitebsk, entrepreneurs and a visitor to the Belarus shopping center were awarded for helping to get people out of the smoke-filled building before rescuers arrived

At the Security Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, five entrepreneurs and a visitor of the shopping center "Belarus" were awarded, who, even before the arrival of rescuers, managed to organize the evacuation of people from the burning smoky building and save human lives.

These are Nikita Chervyakov, Mikhail Matorin, Alexei Genko, Andrei Matusevich, Vladislav Vdovenko, Artur Lyakhovsky. Chairman of the regional executive committee Alexander Subbotin thanked everyone who helped to evacuate people and noted that such a selfless act of men is an example not only for their children, but also for all citizens of the country in how to act in critical situations.

Alexander Subbotin stressed that the investigation into the fire in the shopping center continues, and the conclusion of the competent authorities will soon be received. As for the victims, the woman, who was transported to Minsk and who was on a ventilator, has already regained consciousness, according to medical indicators, the dynamics are improving slowly but surely. The most precious thing is the life and health of people.

First Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Andrei Gavrilenko also thanked the men for their courage. Alexander Subbotin and Andrey Gavrilenko presented the heroes with a commemorative badge "25 years of the Vityaz Fire Rescue Squad".

Each of the men was thanked by a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Sergei Meleshkin for rescuing people in an emergency situation associated with a risk to life and an active civic position."Being at the scene, they did not get confused, coped with emotions and helped those who were in the building," said Andrey Gavrilenko.

The awardees were not alone - next to the men on this significant day were their families, those who are most proud of the act of their husbands and fathers. The wives and children of the heroes gladly responded to the invitation of the rescuers. For them, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted a training interactive at the sites of the center.

Children already have an example of real courage and heroism, but the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations helped to work out how to avoid danger and act correctly if an emergency occurred. The guests of the center had the opportunity to communicate with the chairman of the regional executive committee and rescuers in a calm and favorable atmosphere, over a cup of tea.

One of the awardees, Artur Lyakhovsky, a father of many children, recalling the events of that terrible day, noted:"I came to the shopping center for shopping and for my wife, who worked on the third floor. When the fire broke out, together with the entrepreneurs, he took measures to extinguish the fire, in such a situation he would not have been able to do otherwise. We didn't get scared, we didn't run away, we assessed the situation and tried to do everything we could to help people. My family and I are pleased with the sign of attention that we have received.
