“Make way for spring”: Maslenitsa was celebrated in Vitebsk

The park named after the Soviet Army is crowded on Sunday. Vitebsk residents and guests of the city rushed to the festivities dedicated to Maslenitsa.

And although the weather on that day was not sunny, this did not stop many from having an active time with their families and friends.

The Maslenitsa atmosphere was noticeable in literally everything: colorful songs and dances of the city’s creative groups, traditional entertainment. A wide range of traditional treats from retail chains in the regional center were also prepared for the guests of the holiday. In the tents one could find everything from sweets, hot corn, pies, to the dish that no Maslenitsa is complete without - pancakes.

Vitebsk residents warmed themselves with a good mood and warm tea. 

The beautiful and expected ending of the holiday was the burning of the Maslenitsa effigy. The kids climbed onto the shoulders of their parents, the adults took out their phones. “Make way for spring!” was heard in the crowd.
