Trade unions in more than a dozen countries are joining forces to counter Western attacks

The national trade union centers of Belarus, Egypt and Syria, as well as the International Trade Union Confederation of Arab States, which unites 18 countries, made a principled decision to join forces and work together in the international arena following talks at the FTUB headquarters.

During the talks, all participants clearly outlined a common position: today, the international trade union movement is extremely politicized. As a result, under the pressure of Western countries, the United States, instead of trade union solidarity, support and solving the problems of workers, barriers and restrictions are introduced, decisions are made that directly harm people. Therefore, as Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Mikhail Orda stressed, those trade unions that act in the interests of people should unite, create centers of power that will resist such unfair and illegal actions. We are talking about forming a common agenda for joint work on international platforms.

– We will defend the interests of our people, peoples and states. We will promote the development and expansion of contacts between our enterprises and organizations, which can exchange their experience and technologies in order to be less dependent on unfriendly countries, " said the leader of the National Trade Union Center of Belarus.

Mikhail Orda also added that the parties intend to continue cooperation in the humanitarian and cultural spheres, as this creates a solid foundation for cooperation between the states.

In turn, the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Egypt called the meeting at the FTUB headquarters historic.

"We discussed consolidation of efforts and concrete actions to counter Western attacks," said Mohamed Abdelazis Gibran Abdelhalim.

The trade union leader of Egypt noted the high economic development of Belarus and the success of our state achieved despite the external political obstacles. He emphasized the high level of social and economic protection of workers.

For his part, Jamil Qadri, Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation of Arab States, recalled that Syria is now also under sanctions. He stressed that during his visit to Belarus, he saw with his own eyes the situation that is developing in the country.

– It is obvious that fake news is being spread around the world regarding Belarus, which does not correspond to reality. I can confirm that the collective West is trying to impose its own desires in order to achieve its own interests. He is not interested in the fate of people, " Jamil Qadri said.

During the visit, representatives of the trade union movement of Arab states visited a number of enterprises and organizations of healthcare, education, energy, petrochemical industry and highly appreciated the unique experience of social partnership in our country.

During the negotiations at the FSB headquarters, agreements were also reached aimed at developing integration between enterprises. For this purpose, in particular, it is planned to hold a joint forum in Belarus with the participation of trade unions belonging to the International Confederation of Trade Unions of Arab States and the General Confederation of Trade Unions, which unites workers of the CIS countries.

It should be noted that the trade unions of Belarus have been actively cooperating with their colleagues from Arab countries for several years. For example, more than a dozen cooperation agreements have been signed with Egyptian trade unions in various fields, from education, health and culture to the industrial, petrochemical and agricultural sectors of the two countries.

Each of these documents provides for specific areas of cooperation. For example, in the real sector of the economy, colleagues from the two countries not only exchange experience in protecting the interests of workers, but also aim to promote the latest technologies and cooperate in production. In education, we are talking about assistance in establishing mutual student exchanges and joint training programs. National professional centers also cooperate in promoting cultural and humanitarian initiatives.
