Vitebsk forensic experts confirmed the doubts of traffic police officers

A car with a criminal record has been installed in Vitebsk, which has a "double" in another country.

A traffic police officer stopped a Hyundai car with Russian registration plates. When checking the documents, the employee had doubts about the authenticity of the vehicle registration certificate. For this reason, the document and the car were sent to the Vitebsk interdistrict Department of the State Committee of Forensic Examinations to conduct a forensic technical examination of the details of documents and a forensic examination of the identification markings of vehicles.

According to the results of the study, it was found that the form of the vehicle registration certificate was not made by an enterprise engaged in the production of this type of product: it was made by inkjet printing, the protective elements were imitated.

When examining the Hyundai car, it turned out that in the place where the identification number should be located, a metal plate with a secondary marking on it was attached in a non-factory way.

Despite the fact that a layer of metal with markings was "cut off" under the plate, the forensic expert was able to establish the original VIN number.

It turned out that Hyundai was stolen in the Russian Federation, there is also a car with exactly the same registration numbers. The "twin car" that drove on the roads of Belarus was purchased in the Russian Federation without re-registration six years ago and has already changed hands twice without registering the transaction. The current owner explained that he did not know that the documents and identification number were unoriginal. Police officers are conducting a check on this fact. Law enforcement officers will have to understand in detail the fate of this car.

Forensic experts recommend following the established procedure for buying cars with registration with the traffic police. At the same time, in order to protect yourself from the risk of purchasing a car with a dubious past and, as a result, from all possible problems in this regard, you can contact the specialists of the State Committee of Forensic Examinations to conduct an examination of the identification markings of vehicles, and, if necessary, other types of examinations.
