Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Discusses Development of Ushachi District

Increasing the economic efficiency of the agro-industrial complex, as well as the effective use of tourism potential are named as key growth points of the Ushachi district. At the meeting of the regional executive committee, the draft strategy for the development of this region was considered.

As the First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Gennady Sabynich noted, today the district is lagging behind in many socio-economic indicators. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, who visited the Ushach region this year, drew attention to this, who instructed the local authorities, together with the regional executive committee, to develop a strategy for the development of the region in the near future and in the future. This business plan was submitted for discussion.

"We focused on two main areas: agriculture and tourism. The first implies the development of pig breeding, cattle breeding with crop production. The second is tourism, which includes our landmark projects, in particular, "Breakthrough of Victory", "ExtremeBreakthrough", the development of sports infrastructure, sanatorium treatment, agro-eco-farmsteads, - said the chairman of the Ushachi District Executive Committee Sergey Sadovsky.

As the head of the region noted, over the past three years, about 57% of livestock products have been produced by pig farms of Vitebskagroproduct CJSC. In the development of this area of animal husbandry, Sorochino-Agro LLC is successfully implementing an investment project to create a pig farm. After its completion, the private enterprise plans the next step to create an agricultural holding, which will include all stages of production, from cultivation to the production of finished products under its own brand.

"In order to attract investors, the mechanism of gratuitous transfer of state unused property, as well as sale at auction, including for 1 base unit, is actively involved. Pig farms of CJSC "Vitebskagrorodukt" and LLC "Sorochino Agro" were created on the basis of unused premises of district communal property, - explained Sergey Sadovsky and gave examples of other private initiatives.

Thus, the peasant farm "Verkudskoye Podvorye" purchased at auction in the agro-town of Verkudy unused communal property, on the basis of which they began to raise sheep.

State-owned agricultural enterprises will also be preserved. In order to increase their efficiency, optimization will be carried out, as a result of which three farms will remain in the district: Velikodoletskoye Agricultural Enterprise, Ilyushinsky OJSC and Safiyskiye Dary UE, where modern dairy complexes will be built, as well as the reconstruction of existing livestock buildings.

In the crop production industry in 2024-2025, it is planned to optimize the structure of sown areas with a phased increase in the sowing of perennial grasses. The changes will affect the cultivation of winter and spring cereals and leguminous crops. All the measures started and continued in the next five-year plan will allow to preserve the agricultural industry of the district, as well as to ensure an increase in gross output and the share of the district in the volume of agricultural production of the region.

In the field of tourism, the most promising types for the Ushachi district will be developed: sanatorium and health, active and event tourism.

– In the 1980s, at the suggestion of the then leader of the republic, Pyotr Masherov, who saw the Ushachi district as an ideal place for recreation, a project for the development of the region as a resort was developed. The project was recognized as practical, economical and received four diplomas out of five at the competition. For various reasons, it was not implemented. But the Ushachi region has every reason to become a large agro-tourist territory. and due to the construction of new ones," explained Sergey Sadovsky.

The modernization of the Forest Lakes sanatorium will continue, and it is planned to create new facilities. A large-scale project is going to be implemented by Verkudskoye Podvorye LLC, which includes the construction of a complex of tourist facilities on the territory of the former unfinished Vechelye sanatorium, where services for recovery, treatment, recovery and rehabilitation will be provided, a greenhouse will be organized, as well as the production of farm products under the Verkudskoye Podvorye brand with the opening of a company store in the district center.

In addition to the main ones, attention is paid to the development of other areas, in particular, industrial enterprises, social and services, an interesting project is planned to be implemented by Vodnaya Dolina LLC - to organize production for the production of boiled crayfish.

"The result of the implementation of the district development strategy will be the preservation of social stability, an increase in the level of well-being and quality of life of the population, a competitive economy and a comfortable living environment. And more and more young people will choose the Ushachi district as their small homeland," Sergey Sadovsky emphasized.
