Belarus might export agricultural products to Ethiopia via its commodity exchange

Belarusian agricultural products might be shipped to Ethiopia through the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE). This matter was discussed during the talks between BUCE and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Republic of Belarus Cham Ugala Uriat, BelTA learned from BUCE press service.

The Ethiopian diplomat, in particular, expressed his readiness to help inform the Ethiopian business community about the possibility to purchase Belarusian food products through BUCE. These products are in stable demand in Ethiopia and their consumption is growing year to year. Exchange trading is expected to help grow the overall trade between Belarus and Ethiopia.

According to the BUCE press service, due to its favorable location Ethiopia can become Belarus’ anchor market in East Africa.

“One of BUCE’s priorities for the current year is to build new partnerships in Africa in a bid to diversify the export of Belarus-made goods. We have already accredited the first broker in Egypt, taken part in the DJAZAGRO food industry exhibition in Algeria, and also held a number of meetings with business representatives from Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan and Tanzania, which resulted in cooperation agreements. Domestic exporters see exchange trading as an instrument to enter new markets. For example, in 2024, Belarusian goods were shipped to 25 countries of the world through the exchange trade platform, and the total amount of transactions exceeded $366 million,” BUCE said.
