Belarus, Russia’s Oryol Oblast sign roadmap for cooperation

Belarus and Oryol Oblast of Russia have signed a roadmap for the development of cooperation in 2024-2026, BelTA has learned.

On 24 October, Brest played host to the first meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Oryol Oblast of Russia. The roadmap was signed by Governor of Oryol Oblast Andrei Klychkov and Vice Governor of Brest Oblast Mikhail Batsenko.

The parties discussed a host of issues. The roadmap is part of the efforts to achieve the goals outlined by Belarus and Russia. They identified priority areas for cooperation. "This is agriculture. Oryol Oblast is a recognized leader in agriculture in the Russian Federation. This includes seed and crop production, cattle genetics, and pig breeding. We have a fairly large number of scientific developments that allow us to obtain high results. The second track is industry. Oryol Oblast is already represented in the Belarusian market by its manufacturers and stores, but there is a great potential for cooperation between our manufacturing enterprises," Governor of Oryol Oblast Andrei Klychkov emphasized.

In particular, Belarus and Oryol Oblast are interested in developing cooperation in microelectronics, the automotive industry, utility vehicle engineering, the production of refrigeration and pumping equipment.

According to Vice Governor of Brest Oblast Mikhail Batsenko, cooperation with Oryol Oblast will help the Brest Oblast to build up its own potential, including in agriculture.

Following the meeting, a protocol of intent on cooperation was signed by the Brest Oblast Council of Deputies and the Oryol Oblast Council of People's Deputies.

The delegation of Russia’s Oryol Oblast arrived in Belarus on 23 October. It is set to tour a number of enterprises, sports facilities, Brest Hero Fortress memorial and the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park.
