Plans to use mortgage lending more broadly in Belarus
There are plans to expand the use of mortgage lending, Belarus' Architecture and Construction Minister Ruslan Parkhamovich said following the meeting on housing provision. The meeting was held at the government headquarters and chaired by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, BelTA has learned.
According to the minister, the meeting took stock of the preliminary results of the work of four groups that looked into the possibility of adjusting approaches to placing people on the waiting list for better housing. “Changes in loan provision and the possibility of expanding mortgage lending were also considered. Work is underway to draft and submit to the Presidium of the Council of Ministers tactical plans to ensure the commissioning of housing, including subsidized housing in 2024-2025, as well as strategic plans that will be set out in the Council of Ministers' resolution as part of the housing policy concept until 2030,” noted Ruslan Parkhamovich.
“We have quite solid tools to support our citizens. Yet, there are people who need better living conditions, but are not entitled to government support stipulated by decrees No. 13 and No. 240. These people are believed to be interested in applying for a mortgage,” the minister said.
