Vice premier speaks about preparations for field works in Belarus
Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Leonid Zayats told the Belarus 1 TV channel how much diesel fuel will be used during the sowing period, BelTA has learned.
“The government is making sure that all field works will be done in time. I think that this year we will accumulate 3-4% more mineral fertilizers than in 2023,” said Leonid Zayats.
According to him, 172,000 tonnes of diesel fuel is needed to carry out field works from March through May. “We asked the head of state to allocate 57,000 tonnes of fuel from the country’s reserve and another 80,000 tonnes for harvesting grain crops - a total of 137,000 tonnes. At the same time, approximately 640,000 tonnes of diesel fuel is used throughout the country every year,” noted the deputy prime minister.
He added that 32,700 tractor drivers are needed to perform field works. Personnel is recruited from factories and forestry enterprises.
