Today, the main trophy of the Kontinental Hockey League - the Gagarin Cup - was put on public display in the Ice Palace of Vitebsk. Its presentation brought together representatives of the regional authorities, young and adult athletes, as well as numerous sports fans.
The Gagarin Cup was brought to our city by Metallurg Magnitogorsk defender Vladislav Eremenko. Recall that the Vitebsk hockey alumnus in the Urals won the main KHL trophy in the past season. Moreover, Eremenko became the first Vitebsk resident who achieved such success.
The presentation of the Gagarin Cup was attended by the chairman of the regional executive committee Alexander Subbotin, who thanked the hockey player for the holiday presented to hockey fans of Vitebsk.

Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vyacheslav Durnov also noted the importance of this event for sports fans and the high quality of the work of sports schools in the region:
- This is what athletes play for - for their fans. At such events, hockey players demonstrate the result of their work. I hope we will continue this tradition. And the main trophy of the KHL will still come to Vitebsk. It's nice that the pupils of the sports schools of the Vitebsk region play for the top clubs of the KHL. This indicates a good school of Belarusian hockey. And if sports schools work well, then the national team will perform well.
Vladislav Eremenko thanked all those present at this holiday:
"It's an incredible feeling. I am very glad that many people came. It's nice to share the joy of winning the trophy with sports fans of Vitebsk. Here I took my first steps on the ice, I spent a lot of time here. I constantly try to come to my hometown. I am glad to see how the city and Vitebsk hockey are developing. Two Salei Cups are worth a lot.
At the event, everyone had the opportunity to take pictures with the Gagarin Cup and get autographs from its owner. And hockey fans willingly took advantage of this opportunity - queues lined up for the trophy and for an autograph.
"Thanks to Vlad Eremenko and everyone who organized this holiday," fan Alexander told VV. – I came with my son, a schoolboy, who is also engaged in hockey. We took pictures with the Gagarin Cup, talked to Vlad. Using the example of Vladislav, I showed my son what to strive for. And I told him: look, if you train hard, you will also be able to win such a cup.
Recall that the KHL is unofficially considered the strongest hockey league in Europe and the second highest in the world. This season, two Belarusian hockey players became the owners of the trophy, and both from the Vitebsk region. Yesterday a similar event took place in Novopolotsk. The Gagarin Cup was brought to the oil city by Metallurg defender Danila Palivko.
