Kochanova: Belarus promotes the ideas of peace and the policy of friendship at all international forums

Belarus openly and progressively promotes the ideas of peace and the policy of friendship at all international forums, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said at the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly meeting in St. Petersburg to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus openly and progressively promotes the ideas of peace and the policy of friendship policy at all international forums,” Natalya Kochanova said.

As an example, the speaker recalled that the National Assembly of Belarus supported the UN General Assembly resolution on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The joint sitting of both chambers of the National Assembly is set to adopt a statement to the parliaments of foreign states in connection with the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

“In response to the destructive attacks of the West, we have adopted laws on the prevention of rehabilitation of Nazism and genocide of the Belarusian people. Protection of historical truth and memory of the heroic feat of the Soviet people is an inalienable duty of every citizen of Belarus, and it is written in the updated Constitution,” Natalya Kochanova said.

The speaker emphasized that “peace is not just the absence of war, but a life in security and harmony”.

The chairperson of the Council of the Republic quoted the Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko as saying at the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council that one can steal memory, but not the truth. “Without the heroism of the Soviet people those states and people, who do their utmost to discredit the feat of the Soviet people and take away the memory of our Great Victory, which unites us, would not exist,” the head of state said then.

The chairperson of the Council of the Republic pointed to the unconcealed flow of lies, accusations, falsifications and attempts to destabilize the situation inside the countries through “color revolutions” - this is information warfare.

Continuing the topic of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, Natalya Kochanova emphasized that such crimes have no statute of limitations. “All the evidence will be presented to the international court in order to restore historical justice and tear off the masks of those who are inciting new conflicts on the planet under the pretext of peacekeeping policy,” the speaker added.
