The delegation of the Vitebsk region attended a gala concert dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus. The event took place at the Palace of the Republic. This holiday is celebrated annually on April 2 - the day the heads of the two fraternal states signed the agreement on the formation of the community.

The number of honored guests included Secretary of State of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Minsk Boris Gryzlov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Pyotr Tolstoy, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus Veniamin.
On the main stage of Minsk, congratulations were announced from the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin.





The honored guests in their speeches emphasized the brilliant prospects of the union, the presence of a powerful impetus for the trade, industrial and economic development of the two states, which jointly implement 28 programs. They recalled that today and always Belarusians and Russians feel like a single family, which, despite external pressure, shares spiritual and cultural values, honors and carefully preserves their history.
“The current date is special: today marks 25 years since the signing of the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State, which unites our fraternal peoples, strengthens their friendship and promotes fruitful cooperation,” noted Dmitry Mezentsev, congratulating those present on the holiday.

Next, a festive show unfolded on the stage of the Palace of the Republic. The Belarusian National Academic Folk Choir named after G. Tsitovich, the Belarusian pop song theater “Syabrynka”, the Russian national ballet “Kostroma”, Varvara, Sergei Voitenko and the duet “Bayan-Mix” and other famous groups and performers of the two countries created an excellent mood for the guests of the event.
The art group “Turetsky Choir”, as a sign of friendship between peoples, together with the audience, performed Lyudmila Zykina’s famous song “The Volga River Flows,” the music of which was written by the Soviet composer, a native of Vitebsk, Mark Fradkin. And Mikhail Turetsky himself proudly noted that most of their team, including him, have Belarusian roots.

Belarusian singer Alena Lanskaya and Russian pop singer Alexander Elovskikh presented the audience with a new song called “Together”, dedicated to the unity of fraternal peoples.
Vladimir Koroteev and Sergei Malyshkin, members of the Vitebsk regional organization of the public association “Belarusian Union of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan”:
– We really enjoyed the event at the Palace of the Republic. The concert program is soulful and touching; the performance of the world-famous Russian art group “Turetsky Choir” was especially memorable. It’s always nice to listen to your favorite music in a warm atmosphere and realize that you are among friends with whom you feel spiritual unity.
Diana Vikulina, Anastasia Shabusova, students of the Faculty of Law of VSU named after. P. Masherova, members of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union:
– There is great strength in the unity of peoples, today we felt it once again. We honor our ancestors, who gave us life and a peaceful sky, we pay tribute to them with our good deeds and memory. Both fraternal peoples are rich in talents and wonderful traditions, and it’s great that we share them with each other.
