The exhibition dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Vitebsk Regional Methodological Center of Folk Art (VMCFT), “Through the Prism of Time” will open on March 22. A BELTA correspondent was informed about this at a cultural institution.
Residents and guests of Vitebsk are invited to the exhibition, which will open on March 22 at the OMCST. It will tell about the history of the cultural institution, its achievements and modern masters who pass on the secrets of traditional arts to new generations.
The exhibition will be divided into two blocks and will be located in two halls. One part of the exhibition will present a collection of products by craftsmen working in traditional folk styles. Exhibits for it will be selected from the OMCST funds. Here you will be able to see photographs depicting the most interesting moments of the work of the regional creativity center, literature and methodological publications that were printed over the 85 years of the institution’s activity, as well as awards, posters, brochures, booklets, invitations and much more. This is the work of many generations of OMCST employees, folk craftsmen, reflecting not only history, but also the results of work in the revival of many types of crafts that passionate craftsmen brought back from oblivion and saved from oblivion.
The second block of the exhibition will present about 150 works from all over the Vitebsk region, belonging to folk artists of the Republic of Belarus living in the northern region. Here you can see products made from wicker, straw, including those made using the spiral weaving technique, works of pottery and weaving, weaving, folk costumes, embroidery, patterns and colors that differ from region to region. Visitors will also be able to get acquainted with the peculiarities of making leather goods, how the master knows how to combine traditions and modern artistic ideas, with the secrets of applying printed designs on scarves and clothes and creating bright, unique little ones.
The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for 14.00 on March 22, and it will run until April 6. Everyone will be able to get acquainted with the beauty and regional characteristics of traditional crafts, history and folklore of their native land.
