Women’s unions of Belarus, Vietnam sign memorandum of cooperation

The women of Belarus and Vietnam have signed a memorandum of cooperation, BelTA has learned.

The meeting of the women’s union representatives took place in Hanoi at the headquarters of the Vietnam Women’s Union. The women’s organizations of both countries enjoy long-standing friendly relations, which are based on respect, a common vision regarding family, women’s leadership, and humanitarian cooperation.

“We have close long-standing relations. We have been cooperating with the Vietnam Women’s Union since 2002. Perhaps it was simply time for a reset. This is driven both by global events and, of course, by the unique relationship between our nations’ leaders. Therefore, the women’s unions are also stepping up their activities. We may appear different, but our goals and aims are the same: the protection of motherhood and childhood, families, women, and gender equality. For us, it is crucial to present a united front internationally,” Chairwoman of the Belarusian Women’s Union Olga Shpilevskaya noted.

Olga Shpilevskaya emphasized that the parties are interested in exchanging information in economy and culture. “So that Vietnamese and Belarusian women can get to know each other and learn more about each other’s cultures, traditions, and values. The strategic partnership between our countries, as agreed upon by our leaders, is progressing. We want our peoples to engage more with each other,” she added.

The memorandum formalizes the agreement to exchange information about the unions’ activities, develop joint projects, and participate in campaigns and conferences.
