Yuriy Derkach, member of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development, chairman of the regional association of trade unions:
– The Council of the Republic is the Chamber of territorial representation. Its function is to ensure the release of timely bills that the republic needs, which must pass through the sieve of collective knowledge, folk wisdom and experience of professionals in a specific direction and only in the interests of the state and the Belarusian people. Therefore, people who will join the Council of the Republic must be devoted to the people and the state, not think of their activities outside the interests of Belarus, have competencies in the area of activity, be open to receiving new information, capable of making decisions and being responsible for the result. Members of the Council of the Republic must have the opportunity to live in the interests of the people, conduct dialogue, analyze and generalize, highlight the main thing and find ways to systematically resolve issues that have arisen, have authority and trust among the population of the region they represent.
