The Vitebsk Regional Library presented the book "Vitebsk. Spasskaya Street. Commissioner Putna"
Tatiana Kotovich's book "Vitebsk. Spasskaya Street. Commissioner Putna." The regional library continues the cycle of "Local history meetings", within which everyone can get acquainted with the history of Vitebsk region.
At the beginning of the meeting, the author noted that the book "Vitebsk. Spasskaya Street. Commissioner Putna" together with previously published monographs "Political Mysteries: October 1918 – December 1919" and "Vitebsk. Assumption Street. Commissioner Krylov" compiles a series of works about Vitebsk commissars.
Tatyana Kotovich spoke emotionally about the tragic fate of Vytautas Kazimirovich Putna.
– When writing the book, it was important for me to understand who this person was, what his fate and his inner world were, – the author noted.
Tatyana Kotovich also introduced the participants to the history and architectural features of the houses of Spasskaya Street Dukhovskaya Embankment, where Commissioner Putna lived – now this street bears his name.
Also at the event, they talked about the virtual project "Vitebsk was here", which introduces people who are iconic for Vitebsk.
